We are excited to announce that MDI recently won three awards at the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Awards Gala, 2017, Carolinas.

First Place for Vacation/Secondary Home – “Relaxed River View”

Our client vacations at this home with their grown children and plan to eventually use it as their primary residence. They wanted a home that was spacious enough for a crowd, but low maintenance. They also wanted the space to feel homey when it was just the two of them.

The home turned out to be calm, relaxing, casual and uncluttered with enough flexible space to change with the family’s needs.

Second Place for Kitchen “Relaxed River View”

The team also took second place for the kitchen in this home. The home is open concept, and the culinary hub was designed to flow with the rest of the house. We chose blues, creams, and wood tones to compliment the stunning marsh views.

Interestingly, the homeowners both love to cook but there is a 12” difference in their heights. They really wanted a kitchen where they could both comfortably cook – that meant including counter tops at different heights. Custom cabinets were the solution, and the mixed materials add to the warm ambiance.

This home was a fun challenge, and it turned out beautifully. Stay tuned for a full blog tour of the property and get a sneak peek on our portfolio page.

First Place for Residence over 3500 square feet “Traditional Family Home”

We also won first place for our “Our Traditional Family Home” project. We’ll have photos up on our website soon, so check back!

We’re so honored by these ASID awards, thanks to everyone who contributed to these beautiful homes.
