Pantone has revealed the 2025 Color of the Year as…drumroll please…Mocha Mousse, a warm, rich brown hue inspired by coffee and chocolate. Simultaneously grounded and elegant, it’s a shade that reflects the desire for calm and balance in a constantly changing world.

Pantone Color Institute has been the global “authority on color” for decades, ensuring color consistency across the creative industries, from fashion and beauty to home and design. Every December, Pantone announces a color of the year that reflects current events and sets the tone for future trends and aesthetics.

So, why Mocha Mousse?

For Pantone Color of the Year 2025, we look to a mellow brown hue whose inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others. -Laurie Pressman, VP of the Pantone Color Institute

This earthy brown perfectly aligns with the shift toward comfortable luxury. It prioritizes timeless sophistication over bold statements. While Mocha Mousse is rich and indulgent enough to act as a solid standalone color, it also provides a solid foundation for a wide range of texture and color palettes.

Pantone’s 2025 Color of the Year choice is a calming change of pace from the light warmth of 2024’s Peach Fuzz and the bold statement of 2023’s Viva Magenta. Mocha Mousse invites us to slow down, embrace the beauty of the natural world, and find joy in simple comforts.
