Island Lifestyle

We recently won a 2nd Place ASID Award for our Island Lifestyle project. This fun, colorful Kiawah Island vacation home quickly transitioned to a full-time residence as the owners loved the laid back lifestyle the island provided. Having space for their kids and plenty of visitors was very important for this sociable family.

The open-concept living room and kitchen create the perfect space for entertaining, along with the guest rooms each having unique designs. The gorgeous island view can be enjoyed year-round either by the fire or outdoor living area.

This home was originally planned to be an island vacation home for this active family of five. The objective was to create a welcoming oasis that felt as energetic as the family themselves. Personalized spaces for their three young adult children, as well as a variety of gathering spaces was key to the success of this design. An avid crafter, the homeowner prioritized having the space for a creative workspace within her home.

The client had a very specific budget in mind for the furniture, lighting, accessories, etc. and did not want to stray from that budget. The family has a fun and youthful dynamic and wanted the house to show their personality. Both daughters were involved in the selections and decisions for their rooms which allowed us to make more youthful design decisions.

The guest house was envisioned as a bright and cheery space, and the client was willing to go with bold colors and unexpected fabric pairings to create the desired look.

The client’s goal was to create a home that was a haven for the family to gather. As it quickly became their favorite place to congregate, it transitioned to a full-time island home. The clients found that the house suited their needs to a tee and provided the perfect combination of privacy and togetherness.

We are delighted and honored to receive an ASID award for this special home. See more photos on our Portfolio page.
