Tips for a Quick Summer Textile Refresh
With a new season comes the urge to refresh interior spaces to match. In winter, we bring warmth to chilly Charleston days with plenty of layers and soft, nubby textiles. In summer, we want summer textiles that are light, bright, fun, and crisp.
You can refresh your space for summer, or for an entire next chapter, with a creative summer textile makeover.
Warm Colors are Trending
Crisp, sophisticated whites, grays, and indigos have dominated interior design trends in the last few years. While these combinations never go out of style, warm colors are making their way into Charleston interiors. Driven by the popularity of blush pinks and rose gold, we’re seeing the addition of toasty mustards, deeper shades of rose, terra cotta, rust, and even salmon (a perennial Charleston favorite).

Rhodes Boutique Gets a Makeover from the MDI Team

Clients love it because it’s close to downtown and has plenty of free (!!!!) parking. The owner, Caroline Rhodes, buys what she loves and what she knows her customers will love.

Alexis Finds Life and Design Inspiration in India
As much as we love Charleston, we believe that getting out of our comfort zones is the best way to find design inspiration. In February, MDI interior designer Alexis Wilks had a fantastic opportunity to travel through India and Nepal with family. Her stepfather founded an eye clinic in the area that serves the poor, and she was able to do a little humanitarian work as well as sightseeing.
3 Beautiful Paint Colors for 2018
Our favorite paint colors are like our favorite people: Always nice to be with and never overbearing. When choosing paint, it’s important to try a big test patch in the room, both near a window and in the darkest part.
MDI’s Favorite Accessories
