Earlier this month Arden, Lily, and Ryan attended Chaddock College, a two-day immersive experience at the factory campus in Morgantown, North Carolina. This experience allows designers to see how Chaddock furniture is made and upholstered, and we love it when our MDI designers get to attend.
In Chaddock College’s two-day curriculum, the MDI team got to see how the company combines artisan craftsmanship techniques with modern technology. They also got to witness the creation of made-to-order upholstery, including patterning, cutting, sewing, fabric application and custom tailoring treatments. Here’s Arden with a work order for an MDI bed.
To learn how wood is distressed, the three designers got to make custom frames that would hold their Chaddock College diplomas, and help upholster chair seats. They were surprised to learn that most of the finishes take 17 to 30 steps!
Ninety percent of Chaddock designs are made to order in Morgantown by the company’s dedicated and skilled craftspeople. Ensuring that our clients have access to unique, quality furniture that will stand the test of time is important us. For Arden, Lily, and Ryan, taking part in Chaddock College and seeing their process from start to finish was educational and inspiring. Thanks Chaddock College!
