Hickory Chair is a fine furniture manufacturer based in Hickory, North Carolina—only about four hours away from our humble headquarters in Charleston, South Carolina. We at Margaret Donaldson Interiors have long been fans of the exemplary craftsmanship the furniture design company has produced over the past 100 (yes, 100!) years, and we’re proud that they’re not only in the USA but also in the South.

From custom woodworking to classic upholstery, we’ve found that Hickory Chair pieces have meshed really well with the MDI style for years now. I even have some of their work in my own home! They have a tremendous array of finish options that can make a piece look so different each time you use it, which is something we really love about the line. I’ve also been to a two-day, in-depth tour of the factory to see how it is all made and was super impressed with the construction and attention to detail, even down to the packaging. That’s why we often use their creations in our designs inside homes around Charleston and the outlying islands.
