Home Tour: An Award-Winning Master Bathroom

October 17, 2019

Recently MDI won the 1st place ASID Award for a master bathroom that is a true oasis. The home also won a 2nd place ASID Award for Vacation Home and an Honorable Mention for the dining room and bar. Last week we took you on a tour of the main living areas of this incredible 5,500 sq. ft. house, and today we’re going to show you around that award-winning master bathroom. Ready to relax?

Our master bathroom tour begins with a luxurious Carrera marble floor, which sets an elegant and timeless tone. We chose the tub for its sculptural qualities and positioned it to take advantage of the unparalleled vistas of the golf course and the marsh beyond. The house was oriented so that the master bathroom would have views without needing privacy measures added to the windows. Notice the ceiling arch mimics the shape of the tub.

His–and-hers vanities feature full-height mosaic tile backsplash with an integrated mirror framed with beveled tile molding. The sizeable frameless shower features three shower heads and a wide floating slab style bench.

No master bathroom is complete without a makeup vanity; this one features storage galore in mirrored towers as well as a built-in, retractable, lighted magnifying mirror. The lower drawers were sized to fit the client’s preferred cosmetics, and some have built-in plugs to allow her hairdryer and straightener to stay plugged in while still being stored discreetly.

The water closet features an opaque glass door, geode inspired aqua wallpaper and natural abalone shell art. A roller shade was installed in this space for optimal privacy.

Stay tuned for more tours through the guesthouse, the award-wining dining room and bar, and the hardworking areas of the home including the laundry, spa, gym, and guest rooms. Can’t wait to see the whole house? Check out all the beautiful photos on our portfolio page.
