Home Tour: Marsh View
October 8, 2020
Our clients asked us to design their Kiawah Island marsh view vacation home with the natural beauty of the outdoors in mind. Taking inspiration from the colors of the marsh, ocean, and sky, we used a soft color palette of blues, spring greens of the marsh and oyster shell white. The palette is accentuated by warm woods, natural texture and metal.
The family room takes full advantage of beautiful marsh views. The seating area in front of the fireplace is an ideal spot for movie nights on chilly evenings.
The kitchen is open to the family room. The custom island is a focal point, and we worked hard to find a stone slab large enough to span the island without seams. The island seats six, and there is a breakfast table nearby for overflow seating or casual meals. The kitchen has everything the family needs for entertaining, including a built-in wine cooler.
The dining room is light-filled with incredible marsh views. Since the view is the star of the show, we keep things simple with a sisal rug, soft blue dining chairs, and a warm wood table that can extend for more seating.
In the powder room, a floating vanity and hammered metal vessel sink add contemporary touches.
The family loves to have visitors so the home has generous guest areas. Bedrooms and bathrooms designed to echo the soothing palette in the rest of the home.
One of our favorite parts of this home is the four-seasons deck. A large gas fireplace takes the chill off of chilly evenings, and a teak dining table stands ready for casual al fresco meals.
A covered nook on pool deck houses a u-shaped sofa with weather-resistant Sunbrella fabrics.
