Vacation Home Renovation

Dining Room

We have a fun project to share with you today. We renovated this family’s Kiawah Island vacation home into a retirement home that showcases their love of the Lowcountry, family, and entertaining. This project began with the unique goal of keeping memories of years of family vacations alive, while also updating the space to make it feel brand new!

No space in this home was left untouched. We were given full creative freedom with material selections and worked closely with the original architect and builder. We had to think creatively to incorporate the columns, beams, and headers that were needed for structural support into the design.

Our goal was to create a feeling of family belonging while also incorporating a deep connection to the island community. The clean palette with eclectic pops of color and commissioned art pieces references the outdoors, local artists, and a focus on gathering places.

The oversized space of the dining room was a challenge, but quickly became a favorite. We created a welcoming atmosphere with custom buffets and original multimedia art pieces, and tied it all together with blue ceiling beams to echo the coloring of the space.

Much of this project was designed around the unique art pieces commissioned by local artists to create a one-of-a-kind space tailored to the family’s preferences and ties to the local area.

Family Room

The kitchen is light and airy with a focus on functional workspace, top of the line appliances, and comfortable conversation areas. This light and airy feel continues into the breakfast room, with a custom contemporary chandelier and modern art.

With a focus on family, this home needed family friendly spaces for adults and children alike to gather and enjoy each other. We were able to create this with a family game room and a custom bunk room with built in bunks.

The master bedroom is its own little oasis. The specialty wall treatment contrasts beautifully with the upholstered headboard and bespoke bedding. In appreciation for Kiawah, we made sure to include a seating area to appreciate the beautiful views.

A beautiful outdoor gathering space, the covered porch is another favorite. The oversized sectional and beautiful views combine the welcoming comfort of the interior with the beauty of Kiawah Island.

We enjoyed influencing this space in ways big and small, and what this remodel is able to do for this family. Most importantly, we were grateful to build a relationship with this client and look forward to working with them again in the future!
