Margaret Visits New Zealand

February 28, 2019

About this time last year, Margaret and her husband Rob had the opportunity to travel to New Zealand for a wedding. The trip from Charleston to “The Land of the Long White Cloud” takes about 24 hours, but is well worth the effort!

New Zealand

The 990-mile-long island country is made up of two islands, the North Island and South Island, split by a thin strip of water. The North Island is known for the indigenous culture of the Maori people. It also has dozens of volcanoes, which makes for incredible scenery.

While on the North Island, we took a helicopter tour down one coast and back up the other. Amazing! You really have to see much of New Zealand from the air.

“There were sheep everywhere. New Zealand wool is what most of the rugs I use are made of. We ate a lot of lamb. Delicious!”

If North Island has beautiful scenery, the South Island kicks it up a notch. There are glaciers, fiords, sparkling lakes and mountains that rival the Alps.

“This is South Island We took an air tour to Milford Sound to see the glaciers. You just can’t believe what you are seeing!

Margaret and Rob had a great time at the wedding, and enjoyed their field trips before and after the festivities.
