MDI Gives Back on Giving Tuesday

November 27, 2018

Giving Tuesday is a global movement to kick off the giving season. Celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is a great counterbalance to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year members of the MDI team picked a local nonprofit to be the recipient of their donation on Giving Tuesday:

Charleston Animal Society (Elizabeth Hassell, Beth Black, Anna Robertson)

One of the oldest Humane Societies in the United States established 144 years ago. CAS operates a 31,000 sq ft lifesaving shelter which houses nearly 9,000 animals a year, is open 7 days a week, and operates two High Quality-Low Fee Spay and Neuter clinics.

Teachers’ Supply Closet (Delta Amrhein)

Serving children in the tri-county area in meeting their educational and creative needs by providing free supplies donated by businesses and individuals.

Carolina Youth Development Center (Liz Fraser)

Provides hope and homes to child victims of abuse and neglect.

Lowcountry Food Bank (Alex Hendricks)

Helps fight hunger by distributing food to nearly 300 partner agencies including soup kitchens, homeless shelters and emergency food pantries.

Charleston Waterkeeper (Alexis Wilks)

Protecting the public’s right to clean water by defending Charleston’s waterways from pollution.

HEART Arts Guild + Theatre Company (Arden McKenzie)

An innovative arts and theatre company that provides mentorships and community engagement for adults with special needs who want to develop and identify as artists. At HEART, we create high quality collaborative art and share it with the community.

Lowcountry Community Chaplaincy (Margaret Donaldson)

Serves the personnel for all police, fire and EMS agencies and the citizens of the coastal area of South Carolina.

Center for Women (Ryan Vaughn)

Educates and advocate so that women in South Carolina have economic success and are leaders in their professional, community and personal lives.

We are thankful for all of the nonprofits and volunteers in the Charleston area who work hard to serve our community!
