MDI Takes a Cooking Class
August 1, 2019
Last month the MDI team, plus builder Phillip Smith and his wife, took a private cooking class with Chef Bob Waggoner courtesy of Colleen George and Sub Zero/Wolf. Chef Bob is known for his Lowcountry / French fusion cuisine using local and seasonal ingredients.
Cooking classes are held at his beautiful downtown showcase kitchen, and are known for being casual, relaxed, and a lot of fun. That evening the group cooked:
Appetizer: Shrimp on top of asparagus with a pineapple pink peppercorn salsa on top.
Dinner: Steak with cooked down onions, peppers, tomatoes, olives, etc.
Dessert: Fresh berries with homemade vanilla ice cream with a red wine berry syrup.
Among other things, Chef Bob taught the team knife skills, how to flip food in the pan, and to use grape seed oil instead of any other oil to cook because it can heat super high and has no flavor, and to cook shrimp with the tail on because the tail is what makes the food taste like shrimp.
The team couldn’t choose a favorite food because everything was amazing, including the wine pairings. Chef Bob teaches individual and private cooking classes regularly at his downtown show kitchen and we highly recommend you sign up for an evening of unforgettable fun and food.
Thanks Chef Bob, Colleen George and Subzero / Wolf for a great time.
