Preservation Society of Charleston Fall Tour of Homes
September 24, 2018
Every year MDI sponsors the Preservation Society of Charleston’s Fall Tour of Homes. This year we want to encourage you to join a tour, a garden walk, or a talk and get better acquainted with Charleston’s beautiful historic homes.
The Fall tour of homes takes place throughout the month of October, and every weekend highlights a different street neighborhood. This year’s tour choices include private homes and gardens on:
- Meeting Street
- The Battery
- King Street
- Church Street
- East Battery
- South Battery
- Tradd Street
These are self-guided tours that feature the interiors of 6 – 7 private homes and gardens. These are not museums, and they aren’t staged. If you haven’t been, it’s a delight to see these homes, take in the modern updates and historic preservation efforts, and see how people really live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Before or after your tour, be sure to stop at the Preservation Society shop on King Street for a browse. This is one of our favorite stores in Charleston. You’ll find books by local authors, small-batch books on historical Charleston culture, art, and architecture, and lots of beautiful products from local makers.
Proceeds from the tours benefit the Preservation Society of Charleston, the oldest preservation society in the country.
Tickets are limited, so get yours today. See you downtown!
