The Beautiful Home Office
March 29, 2016
Whether you work at home or just like to have a command post for running the household, your home office can, and should, blend with the rest of your home.
The home office in our Rhett’s Bluff project has masculine elements such as a leather club chair and a chrome A-frame desk, while a kilim rug softens and unifies the space. Natural light and an inviting reading corner are other critical elements that keep this hardworking room from feeling sterile. (Looking for other ideas on how to use your stored oriental rugs? Read our recent blog post.)
We created one of our most enviable home offices in the Surfsong Beach project. This cozy, sunlit nook features a compact wooden desktop and a small bookshelf. The area is large enough for two chairs and computers, making it a handy place to do homework as well. Rolling rattan chairs replace standard office chairs, while ship lap walls give the whole space a local sense of place. Notice how the leaf green console and patterned chair add energy to an otherwise neutral scheme.
Believe it or not, this beautiful room is a home office in our Classic Cassique project. The homeowner showcased her love of rounded corners in this room – notice the barrel vaulted ceiling and the arched fireplace. This room has a small working desk, but it also has two comfy chairs where the homeowner can retreat with her daughter or friends.
