What We Love About Kiawah Island
November 6, 2024
We love working with our Kiawah Island interior design clients! Kiawah Island is a hidden gem located just south of Charleston and is famous for its southern charm, beautiful wide beaches, world-class golf courses, and luxury dining. Whether you prefer outdoor adventure and recreation or fine dining and spa accommodations, this Lowcountry favorite offers something for everyone!
Things to Do on Kiawah Island
Recreation
Kiawah Island is known for its range of recreational activities. Stay close to the resorts for some tennis or hit a round of golf at one of the state of the art courses. If you prefer to get out and seek adventure, check out one of the many options to explore the island. Rent a bike and hop on one of the many beautiful tree-covered bike trails the island has to offer, or explore the coastline and waterways with a boat charter or rental. While exploring the island, be sure to keep an eye out for wildlife. Dolphins, deer, and alligators, oh my!
Enjoy a Spa Day
For a more relaxing experience, visit the Spa at The Sanctuary. The Spa offers a wide variety of treatments, from massages to salon services to skincare. Start your day with a hair color refresh, or unwind with a massage after a long day in the sun.
Take in the Natural Sights
The natural beauty of Kiawah Island is enough motivation to attract visitors from all over the country. The island boasts over ten miles of beautiful sandy beaches that the Lowcountry is famous for. While most of this beach is private, Kiawah Beachwalker County Park offers public beach access, as well as chair rentals, dressing areas, restrooms, and showers. Take a break from the beach for a day and visit the famous Angel Oak tree, one of the oldest standing oak trees in the United States! Angel Oak Park is located on John’s Island, just a short drive from Kiawah.
Where to Eat on Kiawah Island
Don’t be fooled by the relatively small size of the island; there is certainly no shortage of delicious food! The Kiawah Dining Collection offers a variety of restaurants, from fine dining to quick bites. Freshfields Village is Kiawah Island’s shopping center and hosts over 30 businesses, from shops to restaurants. Some favorite food spots at Freshfields Village include Forty Eight Wine Bar & Kitchen, Hege’s French cuisine, and tacos at Cantina 76.
If you’re visiting during the summer, be sure to check out the Mingo Point Oyster Roast. Hosted every Monday during the summer, the Oyster Roast and BBQ is a long-standing Kiawah tradition and is a true Lowcountry experience.
Whether you’re looking for your next vacation spot or a place to call home in the Lowcountry, Kiawah Island is certainly worth the consideration. Check out how we incorporated our clients’ love for the Lowcountry in our most recent Kiawah Island project!
