Every year, we wait to see what direction Pantone will take the Color of the Year. For 2026, the answer is perfectly understated. Meet Cloud Dancer, a soft and calm neutral that makes us think of beach days and linen sheets.

Each December the Pantone color experts deliberate over a color to represent the year ahead. They choose a color based not only on current trends, but also global culture. Pantone chose Cloud Dancer for 2026 as a way to quiet the noise and hustle, and deliver some peace and intentional relaxation.

The cacophony that surrounds us has become overwhelming, making it harder to hear the voices of our inner selves. A conscious statement of simplification, Cloud Dancer enhances our focus, providing release from the distraction of external influences. – Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Cloud Dancer has certainly sparked some conversation. To some, it appears as just white. But in interior design, this soft subtleness is exactly the point. It’s a buildable, versatile shade that allows richer color, texture, and scale to do the heavy lifting. When used intentionally, it can create spaces that feel timeless, warm, and inviting.

Pantone seems to be leaning into some warmer hues the last few years, from 2025’s Mocha Mousse to 2024’s Peach Fuzz.  We’d love to hear your thoughts on the Pantone’s 2026 Color of the Year!
