Can you believe this time last year there was snow on the ground in Charleston and many homes were without power? We know a lot of families who used the power outage as the perfect excuse to light up the fireplace, step away from technology, and enjoy the company of each other.
Well, we’ve done it again! Since 2013, MDI has racked up both design as well as service awards with Houzz, a leading platform for home remodeling and design. We received the announcement this week that we can officially add 2015 to the list of years our designs have been favorites for Houzz readers.

A few weeks ago, all of us at MDI road-tripped to Bluffton to visit Sunbrella’s Design Night at the Southern Living Idea House, Palmetto Bluff. Architect Ken Pursley and Interior Designer Suzanne Kasler, who we blogged about earlier this year, worked together to create a refreshing look for this year’s idea house.
During our trip to New York last month, we stayed at the Maritime Hotel, which left a lasting impression on all of us. From the rooftop Cabanas to the porthole-window rooms, this place thought of everything! We couldn’t get over the incredible Maritime Hotel design, which was truly inspirational.
