Crisp, sophisticated whites, grays, and indigos have dominated interior design trends in the last few years. While these combinations never go out of style, warm colors are making their way into Charleston interiors. Driven by the popularity of blush pinks and rose gold, we’re seeing the addition of toasty mustards, deeper shades of rose, terra cotta, rust, and even salmon (a perennial Charleston favorite).
The “Sip & See” is MDI tradition. When one of our designers finishes a project, we cater a wine and cheese open house so the rest of our team can see the finished home and celebrate with the homeowners. It also allows Elizabeth, our accounting and business manager to get out of the office for once!
MDI’s Beth Black had a great time hanging out at Charleston Fashion Week this year. Held every spring in Marion Square, Charleston Fashion week showcases emerging designers as well as nationally recognized designers. Runway events and parties are glamorous – Charleston style.
Recently Margaret, Liz, Alex, Beth and Alexis had the opportunity to go to Chaddock College, a two-day immersive experience at the beautiful factory campus in Morganton, North Carolina.
Chaddock is an American furniture designer and manufacturer headquartered in Morganton, North Carolina. The company is well known for their customizable furniture designed by notables such as Larry Laslo, Mary McDonald and David Easton. They are perfectionists, and it shows in the quality of their work. (We’ll tell you more about that in our next blog post about the MDI team field trip to the factory.)
Accessories can inspire an entire space or can be the perfect finishing touch. We definitely have our favorites, and our new design studio gives us plenty of room to display all of the decor accessories that we love. Here are some of our favorite accessories:
Liz Fraser is a Hilton Head native but, after years spent here on vacation, has always considered Charleston her home away from home.
We’ve put the finishing touches on our newly renovated and expanded design studio and we couldn’t be happier. Our studio is our home away from home. It’s where we develop relationships, create, dream, and get inspired. This larger space gives us plenty of room to spread out vision boards, meet with clients, and display one-of-a-kind treasures and favorite accessories. (Stay tuned for a post on our current favorite accessories!)
Houseplants are enjoying a massive resurgence in interior design, and rightly so.
Anna was born in Houston and raised in Savannah, making her a true Southerner. She attended the University of Georgia where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising.
