Kips Bay Show House
The Kips Bay Decorator Show House kicks off the spring design season with flair. Designers from all over the country flock to New York City to be inspired by their colleagues. This year the show house featured a luxuriously renovated 22-room, 12,000 square foot Upper East Side townhouse.
MDI Celebrates 30 Years
On May 2nd Margaret hosted a beautiful party to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of her business, Margaret Donaldson Interiors, a.k.a. MDI. In her speech she shared that she decided to opened her own business just a few days before she was due to give birth to Robert , her first son. With one adventure after another she grew her business into what it is today – a busy, beloved and respected design firm.
Margaret Finds Inspiration in Belize
Margaret and Rob took a well-earned break over Easter to the small village of Placencia, Belize. Placencia was settled in the 17th century by settlers from Nova Scotia but eventually resettled by Spaniards. Mangroves, white sand beaches, and the Caribbean Sea surround the peninsula.

Ashley Hall Renovation Project
Ashley Hall, Charleston’s all-girls day school, has been a beloved part of Charleston’s history for more than a hundred years. Our founder, Margaret, grew up in Charleston and attended Ashley Hall from grades 9 – 12. We were pleased and proud to be the interior designer for the Warren Street House, part of Ashley Hall’s “From Here to There” renovation program.
