For us, this relationship really began on the storied streets of Charleston, SC. Margaret, Elizabeth (our MDI numbers cruncher), Mariana and Rhett all grew up together, spending their days amongst the cobblestone streets and single houses of Charleston. It was only fitting that Croghan’s would give MDI a call to help them create an exclusive upper room so that clients might peruse potential purchases privately.

Back By Popular Demand…Challenge/Solution
We love your feedback about our thoughts! We keep hearing that you love it when we let you into our heads. Sometimes, it’s a crazy place but it’s always creating.
Eco Deco Deadline Met!
Deadline met! We just submitted our selections for the 2013 Eco Deco wall of colors.
The Red, White and Blue
In honor of election day, some red, white and blue shots that have come out of the MDI office over the years. Whether an all over scheme of blue and white or that red pop, these colors will never go out of style. We are proud to exercise our right to vote today!
ASID Excellence in Design 2012
It was another rewarding year as MDI was recognized at the 2012 ASID Carolinas Excellence in Design Awards. Each project is judged on its own merit and whether it accomplished the goals as described in the submittal. We were proud that our design work on two Kiawah Island homes were awarded as uniquely addressing the needs of our clients.
We speak our own language
This sketch is an example of the many ways that we communicate with each other here at MDI. Specifically, Margaret returned from an appointment on one of Charleston’s nearby islands and this was her way of helping the rest of us gain a feel for the house. The main floor sketch looks a bit more like a floorplan that you might be able to arrange furniture off of.
John Dransfield: a high point from market
Pun intended!
We are still making our way through the 500 or so images from High Point. It’s like going through your family’s vacation photos months later only to find images that remind you of just how wonderful the trip really was. That’s how we felt when we ran across images of our time spent with John Dransfield.
Inside these walls…1557 Meeting Street
To take a page from the website, “In this business, you might say that you’re as good as the company you keep. We love the company we keep. The furniture maker, the upholsterer, the wallpaper hanger, the faux finisher, the delivery crew, the reps”…the list could go on. I’m sure that you’ll meet them all along the way but for now, here is a peak behind the scenes of our office here at 1557 Meeting Street.
Prints Galore
There is no telling, or logic for that matter, as to what inspires us on any given day. Some days it is more profound than others. For today, it is all of the incredible fall prints that are stimulating us daily. The new books are arriving! The new clothes are hitting stores! We just can’t get enough prints.
Reflecting on a Road Trip
Several times a year, MDI packs up the car and hits the markets. Atlanta and High Point each host markets twice a year where furniture, lighting, rugs, accessories galore are on display with the newest season’s additions. Sounds fun, right? Right! (note tiny hint of sarcasm).
